The Electoral Commission (IEC) of South Africa (SA) is urging voters to check whether their special vote applications have been approved.
The special voting begins on Monday and continues on Tuesday.
In KwaZulu-Natal province, Provincial Electoral Officer Ntombfuthi Masinga says only approved applicants will be allowed to cast special votes at voting stations or through home visits between 8am and 5pm.
Masinga has also reminded voters that campaigning is prohibited within voting station boundaries and that all ballots must be cast in secret.
She says, “We do not allow you to take a picture of the ballot paper once you have voted at the voting station. If you try and do that, the election official will stop you and you will be asked to delete that photograph and if you resist, we will have the members of the SA Police Services on site to persuade you still to delete that photo, otherwise you will be arrested because it is an electoral offence.”
