Limpopo Province schools have finally reopened

Some schools in South Africa’s (SA) Limpopo Province have finally reopened after severe flooding delayed the start of the academic year.

The affected schools were unable to open on Wednesday last week due to heavy rains that damaged infrastructure and made some areas inaccessible.

Learners at Sekgware Secondary School in Ga‑Modjadji say they are relieved and excited to be back in the classroom.

Some pupils described their return to school as a moment of joy, saying it makes them feel like other children, who were able to resume learning on time.

The learners also spoke about the impact of the heavy rains on their lives.

Despite the challenges, the learners remain hopeful and determined.

They say they are eager to focus on their studies, achieve good results this year, and make their parents proud.
