South Africa’s (SA) Mamelodi Sundowns have suspended Performance Analyst Mario Masha amid claims he shared tactical information with former coach Rulani Mokwena ahead of Saturday’s decisive Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League match.
Masha, who has been with the club since Pitso Mosimane’s tenure, denies the allegations but has been placed on precautionary suspension while the matter is investigated.
The clash sees Sundowns host Mokwena’s MC Alger in Algeria in a final group stage game that will decide which team progresses to the quarterfinals alongside either current group leaders Al Hilal of Sudan or Democratic Republic of Congo’s Saint Éloi Lupopo.
Sundowns arrived at the match needing a win after a 1-1 draw away to Lupopo in Lubumbashi on Sunday. Coach Miguel Cardoso also sent a pointed message following that result, signalling the high stakes ahead of the encounter.
