South African (SA) long-distance runner Edward Mothibi is setting his sights on a second victory at the Comrades Marathon.
Mothibi, who won the race in 2019 while representing Nedbank Running Club, will this time compete in the colours of Hollywood Athletics Club as he looks to return to the top.
The much-anticipated up-run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg is scheduled for 14 June, and the experienced runner says he is focused on putting in the work needed to challenge for another win.
“It’s a dream for every runner, including me, but it takes hard work,” Mothibi said. “My body is still responding well, and I believe I can push even harder.”
As part of his preparations, he has been taking part in training runs rather than competitive races, with another build-up event planned for April.
