South African (SA) Judge Navanethem “Navi” Pillay has won the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to promote peace and international law.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the award on Friday, recognising Pillay’s contribution to advancing international law and promoting peace.
The prize is worth $1.2 million. Pillay is expected to receive the award at a ceremony in Oslo, Norway, on December 10.
The date marks the anniversary of the death of Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, who established the Nobel Prizes in his will in 1895.
