South African (SA) swimmer Pieter Coetze has continued with his fine form after winning a gold medal and $10 000 in the third and final stop of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2026 in Astana, Kazakhstan this Thursday.
Coetze came first in the Men’s 100 metre backstroke event in 48.40 seconds.
Coetze, Michael Houllier, Chad le Clos and Rebecca Meder won medals for Team SA in the previous two stops.
The entire three-stop tour serves as a qualification pathway and a competitive lead-in to the World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Beijing in December.
