After facing uncertainty over the lack of a main sponsor, South Africa’s (SA) national women’s football team, Banyana Banyana, has avoided a potential financial crisis.

Global energy company Sasol has renewed its sponsorship, reaffirming its long-standing support for women’s football in SA, which began in 2009.

The renewed deal extends Sasol’s backing until 2029, following the previous cycle that ended on June 30, 2025. The SA Football Association noted that the longer-than-expected negotiations allowed both parties to align shared objectives, ultimately aiming to benefit women’s football nationwide.
