South Africa’s (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa says government is prepared to respond to any potential disruption linked to calls for action against undocumented immigrants on June 30.

Responding to oral questions in the National Council of Provinces, Ramaphosa sought to reassure South Africans that security agencies are on high alert and that measures are in place to ensure the day proceeds without incident.

He says government expects citizens to go about their daily activities as normal.

“We are ready to deal with whatever disruption, instability that could take place. So, on June 30, as people are saying, all manner of things will happen, we are taking measures to ensure that the 30th becomes a normal day where people will be able to work, to go about their business. Our security forces are ready.”
