Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has warned that the ruling party may be heading toward a potential downfall.

The statement comes after mounting speculation that his alliance with Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko is under strain.

The remarks come as Senegal grapples with mounting economic pressures linked to rising debt and the broader impact of the war in Iran.

In a televised address, Faye added that Sonko would remain in his position, provided he continues to ‘do his job properly’.
