Senegalese authorities are working to prevent an oil spill after the Panamanian oil tanker Mersin, owned by Turkey’s Mersin Shipping Incorporated, reported water entering its engine room near Dakar
The incident, which occurred overnight between November 27 and 28, prompted the deployment of tugboats and specialised teams, with all crew members rescued safely. Measures are being taken to stabilise the vessel and prevent hydrocarbon leaks, including transferring the fuel cargo and deploying an anti-pollution boom. Images indicate the vessel may be at risk of flooding.
