South Africa’s (SA) Department of Home Affairs has arrested seven Kenyan nationals for allegedly abusing tourist visas, officials confirmed. The arrests were carried out in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
Home Affairs stated that the individuals had applied for tourist visas but were found working in the country, in violation of SA immigration laws. Authorities have reiterated that anyone found contravening the country’s immigration regulations will face deportation.
Sophie Mokoena of SABC News reports that the Kenyan Embassy has not yet issued a response regarding the arrests. SA continues to tighten its immigration processes in an effort to curb visa abuses and protect the integrity of its borders.
