South Africa’s (SA) Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and the Border Management Authority (BMA) have convened a quarterly anti-corruption campaign at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to strengthen law enforcement collaboration across key ports of entry.
Chaired by the Special Investigating Unit under the Border Management and Immigration Anti-Corruption Forum, the initiative brings together key agencies from the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security cluster to proactively combat border-related fraud and corruption.
BMA Commissioner Michael Masiapato highlighted that the complex ecosystem of SA’s ports of entry requires a multi-agency strategy to safeguard integrity. The campaign feature public pledge signings by institutional leaders, direct engagements with operational personnel, and rehabilitation testimonies from individuals serving sentences for corruption-related offenses.
