President Mnangagwa urges unity as thousands return from SA

Nearly 60 000 Zimbabwean nationals have fled South Africa (SA) and returned home following escalating anti-immigrant sentiment and widespread fears of targeted violence.

The mass migration includes over 11 000 individuals who were officially repatriated through co-ordinated inter-governmental efforts, alongside an estimated 47 000 who chose to return to Zimbabwe independently. Addressing the nation on the unfolding humanitarian crisis, President Emmerson Mnangagwa urged local communities to actively support and welcome the returnees to ensure a smooth reintegration process.

Meanwhile, the situation remains critical across the border, where thousands of desperate Zimbabweans continue to camp outside SA police stations, waiting for emergency assistance to return home safely.
