South Sudan escalating crisis
United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has issued a flash update on the escalating crisis in Jonglei state in South Sudan.
The government has ordered residents to evacuate Akobo town.
Tens of thousands of families have fled, hospitals have been looted and closed.
UNICEF says the malnutrition rate among displaced children is highly alarming.
UNICEF continues to call for a cessation of hostilities and a return to peaceful dialogue to resolve differences.
“The children of South Sudan deserve a safe and secure future where their rights are upheld”.
