Springbok scrum-half Cobus Reinach says he is eager to embrace the challenge of South African (SA) rugby’s biggest domestic showdown after joining the Stormers.

The 34-year-old, who boasts extensive international and European experience, is expected to add depth and dynamism to the Cape side’s backline.

Speaking at his first media briefing since signing for the Stormers, Reinach expressed his excitement about stepping into one of the country’s marquee fixtures. The derby clash promises high intensity, and Reinach is relishing the opportunity to test himself against familiar rivals in a new environment.

“I expect a little bit of attack,” Reinach said when asked about his expectations for the upcoming match. “The way the Stormers play is very exciting – quick ball, fast tempo, and all of that. For me, it’s about getting on the field and producing what the other guys did before I arrived because they’ve put down quite a marker.”

Reinach’s arrival comes at a crucial time for the Stormers, who are looking to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season. His versatility and experience from stints in Europe, including with Montpellier in France, are seen as major assets as the team aims to maintain its competitive edge.
