Tensions in Sudan are rising on multiple fronts and 12 million people have also been displaced.

The army has ruled out peace talks unless the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces  (RSF) fully disarm, while the RSF says it has captured an army base in Babanusa.

Battles in South Kordofan and growing humanitarian needs among refugees in Chad paint a worsening picture.

Residents reported troops entering four settlements, halting RSF attacks. 

A civil war that began in April 2023 after a power struggle between the two forces has spread across the country, killing thousands of people.
