Tanzania’s Immigration Department has officially removed citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from its Referred Visa Category, streamlining entry procedures for Nigerian travelers heading to the East African nation.
The policy shift follows published legal amendments in Government Gazette number 246 of 2026.
Under the new directive, which takes effect immediately, Nigerian nationals traveling to Tanzania will no longer undergo lengthy referred visa clearance protocols. Instead, prospective travelers can now process their travel authorisations through standard procedures on the official government online portal or upon arrival at designated border entry points.
