Tanzania’s top Military Commander, General Jacob Mkunda, has described those protesting the disputed presidential elections as criminals and called for the demonstrations to end immediately.
Speaking on national television, General Mkunda said the army has the situation under control and stressed that the rule of law must be respected.
The protests follow the barring of two opposition leaders from the election, prompting accusations that the government is undermining democratic processes.
Political tensions remain high, particularly in urban areas where demonstrators have been most active, as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
