Former Nigerian international and goalkeeper coach Greg Etafia has revealed that he was personally recruited by Manqoba Mngqithi to join his new technical team at Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC (Yanga).
Etafia makes the move to Yanga after five successful years with South African (SA) outfit TS Galaxy, where he helped lead the club to two cup finals and established a reputation as one of the country’s finest goalkeeper coaches.
Speaking about his appointment, Etafia says Mngqithi reached out directly to bring him on board, adding that he is eager to reward that trust with success.
“Our head coach, Mngqithi, is a top, top coach. He has won everything in SA and coached the biggest teams there. He is the one who called me and said he really appreciates my work and wanted me to be part of his team. I am so grateful for the opportunity and I’m definitely going to give my all to make sure we succeed.”
