Tensions are rising in Mali, where a two-month-long fuel blockade imposed by al Qaeda-linked militants has brought much of the capital, Bamako, to a standstill
Schools have closed, businesses are struggling, and diesel-powered electricity is in short supply.  The group behind the blockade, Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin, or JNIM, has been operating just outside the city. The strategy of economic disruption is putting unprecedented pressure on the Military government, raising fears of political instability.
