Tensions are rising in South Africa’s (SA) Mpumalanga Province, where residents of Tonga Village near the borders with Eswatini and Mozambique have launched a campaign to shut down shops owned by foreign nationals.
The group says the action will continue until the traders leave the area.
Some shop owners, many of whom have lived there for more than a decade, insist their concerns should be addressed through legal channels rather than intimidation.
SA has been experiencing anti-immigration demonstrations throughout the country.
