ECOWAS and Togo say they are strengthening co-ordination ahead of the upcoming Summit of the Future

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Togo say they are strengthening co-ordination ahead of the upcoming Summit of the Future and celebrations marking the organisation’s 50th anniversary.

The announcement followed a meeting in Lomé between ECOWAS Vice-President Damtien Tchintchibidja and Togo’s Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Dussey.

The talks reviewed progress on preparations for the two major regional events and focused on improving co-ordination to ensure they are successfully hosted.

Dussey reaffirmed Togo’s commitment to support ECOWAS in organising the events, praising the strong partnership between the country and the regional bloc. He also highlighted the importance of the Summit of the Future in strengthening integration across West Africa.

Tchintchibidja welcomed the support shown by Togolese authorities and described the discussions as constructive.
