Stock was shot and killed in the centre of the city of Johannesburg on Tuesday. McKenzie and Mabe a the latest in a chorus of South Africans who have expressed shock at Stock’s death.
In their statement, the ministry described him as a dynamic and respected figure in the media and creative industries. They highlighted his career, which began at YFM, before he joined 5FM, hosting The 5th Element, and later SABC1’s Live AMP.
Warras also co‑hosted The Shady Podcast with industry colleague and close friend, DJ PH. The Ministry says the nation mourns his untimely passing, and investigations into his death are ongoing.
The department says alongside his work in broadcasting and television, DJ Warras remained committed to the culture of DJing.
