United States (US) President Donald Trump says he wants to take the oil in Iran and could seize Kharg Island, through which most Iranian oil is exported.
He was speaking to the media as thousands of US ground troops made their way to the Middle East.
The US, Israel war on Iran has sent oil prices surging by more than 50% in a month.
It was at a staggering $115, 20 a barrel a short while ago.
Trump’s remarks follow his statement last Thursday, where he noted that Iran was permitting 10 oil tankers to transit the key global oil artery as a goodwill gesture amid ongoing negotiations.
“As you know, they’ve agreed to send eight boats two days ago, and then they added another two, so it was 10 boats. And now today, they gave us, as a tribute, I don’t know, I can’t define it exactly, but they gave us, I think out of a sign of respect, 20 boats of oil, big, big boats of oil, going through the Hormuz Strait. And that’s taking place starting tomorrow morning.”
