Tunisia’s court has upheld prison sentences of up to 45 years against 34 opposition leaders, lawyers and businessmen convicted of conspiracy.
Forty people were charged with plotting to overthrow President Kais Saied, in one of Tunisia’s largest recent political prosecutions.
Twenty of those charged fled abroad and were sentenced in absentia. The ruling is final and cannot be appealed.
Opposition groups say it further entrenches Saied’s authoritarian rule, following three years of legal proceedings.
