Tunisia reduces the prison sentence for publishing fake news
Tunisia has reduced the prison sentence for publishing what is classified as fake news under its cybercrime law.
President Kais Saied has amended the decree, which previously allowed for prison terms of up to five years.
The law has been criticised by journalists and activists since it was introduced several years ago.
Political analyst and Middle East and North Africa researcher Ibrahim Dean say the reduction in the punishment is a positive development.
