Uganda’s national football team, the Cranes, have been drawn in a challenging group for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and regional rivals Tanzania.
The Cranes have qualified for the tournament only eight times in their history, with their most memorable performance coming in 1978 when they reached the final. Under coach Paul Put, Uganda aim to combine discipline, tactical balance, and mental toughness to make a strong impression in North Africa.
Speaking ahead of their December departure, Put outlined his team’s preparation strategy, including assessments of opponents, internal objectives, and the pressure of expectations on the squad. The Cranes played two World Cup qualifiers in October, using the matches as preparation for AFCON, and plan to play two friendlies in November to finalise their build-up.
