Kenya has ended Uganda’s hopes of retaining the ILT20 Continent Cup after securing a 39-run victory in the final at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium in Kigali.
Kenya opted to bat first and posted a total of 170 for seven before bowling out Uganda for 131 in 17.5 overs to claim their first title in the tournament. The loss ended a strong tournament run for the Cricket Cranes, who had dominated the round-robin stage and entered the final as the top-ranked team.
Uganda will now shift focus to an upcoming six-match tour of Nairobi, where they will face Kenya in three 50-over matches and three T20s from October 5 to 13. The tour will serve as preparation before the team travels to Nigeria for the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier C.
