Uganda and Tanzania bilateral talks focus on regional infrastructure

Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni hosted Tanzanian Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi for bilateral talks at State House Entebbe on Wednesday, focusing on strengthening economic ties, regional security, and key infrastructure projects between the two East African neighbours.

The meeting comes as both nations continue to collaborate on major regional projects, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) and ongoing trade integration efforts within the East African Community (EAC).

Analysing the diplomatic engagement from Dar es Salaam, Deutsche Welle correspondent Wilberforce Ngoto noted that the meeting reinforces a shared commitment to resolving trade friction and deepening regional cooperation:

“The discussions between Museveni and Ndejembi highlight the strategic importance of the partnership between Kampala and Dar es Salaam. Beyond formal diplomacy, this high-level dialogue helps keep joint infrastructure commitments on track and aligns economic policies across the East African region.”

Ngoto added that regular executive-level consultation remains essential for clearing non-tariff barriers and ensuring the smooth movement of goods and services along shared trade corridors.
