Uganda’s President unveils NRM manifesto ahead of 2026 election

The manifesto prioritises national stability, energy security, including nuclear projects, and the promotion of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, and democracy.

Presidential rival Mubarak Munyagwa has proposed banning Swahili and making French an official language if elected. Commenting on the campaign, international political analyst Dr Charles Sinkala said: “Such proposals are likely to provoke significant public debate and could shape voter perceptions ahead of the polls.”
