United Kingdom (UK) is signalling renewed interest in strategic and economic partnerships with Nigeria, says Dr Kathryn Nwajiaku-Dahou, independent consultant on conflict and security and director of the Poetics and Governance Programme at O.D.I. Global.
She highlights that “there is a clear focus on partnership, enterprise, and investment. The UK is looking to strengthen economic and trade ties with Nigeria in ways we haven’t seen for some time.”
The statement comes as King Charles hosts Nigerian President Bola Tinubu at Windsor Castle today, marking the first state visit by a Nigerian leader in 37 years. The visit takes place amid growing international pressure on Tinubu to address insecurity and better protect vulnerable groups, while offering opportunities for closer diplomatic and economic co-operation.
