US has announced the first successful delivery of humanitarian assistance
The United States (US) has announced the first successful delivery of humanitarian assistance in 18 months, to the besieged city of El Fasher in Sudan .
It’s seen as critical relief for millions who have endured months of starvation and violence.
More than 21 million people are currently estimated to be acutely food insecure across the country.
Some 34 million people are in need of humanitarian support, half of whom are children, according to the Unired Nations.
More than 100 000 are estimated to have fled al-Fashir since the Rapid Support Forces  took control there following an 18-month siege.
