United States (US) President Donald Trump announced at the first meeting of his Board of Peace that nations have pledged $7 billion to a Gaza reconstruction fund aimed at rebuilding the enclave.
The gathering, which took place on Thursday in Washington, brought together world leaders and senior officials from the Middle East and Asia.
The purpose was to advance Trump’s plan for stabilizing Gaza following last October’s ceasefire, showcasing progress toward what he calls a lasting settlement.
Leaders from the Middle East and Asia convened in Washington for the inaugural meeting of Trump’s Board of Peace.
Though the organisation has taken a wider role in resolving global conflicts such as Iran, Trump says the organisation remains committed to cementing Gaza’s ceasefire and reconstruction.
