A French delegate attending the G20 Leaders’ Summit at the Nasrec Expo Centre in South Africa (SA) believes the summit’s agenda is likely to change significantly following United States (US) President Donald Trump’s decision not to attend.
The global gathering has drawn hundreds of delegates, including heads of state and government, marking the first time the G20 is hosted on African soil.
French Delegate Clegate Texheur says the absence of Trump, combined with developments in the Ukraine–Russia war, is expected to alter the flow of discussions.
“I guess this G20 is disturbed by the fact that Trump refused to come here and all the agenda, especially for the Europeans, is also disturbed in fact with what’s going on in Ukraine, the peace plans that were proposed last night by the US and I guess in fact it’s changing, all the agenda is moving totally.”
