The White House published the development in a notice on the federal registry confirming earlier media reports last week.
Trump paused all refugee admissions into the US soon after taking office in January and passed a separate executive order seeking to resettle Afrikaners who faced racial discrimination, a characterization that has been rejected by the South Africa Government.
The White House indicated in its annual refugee determination dated September 30 that admissions would be focused largely on the Afrikaner ethnic minority. In the determination published on Thursday, Trump said his administration would consider bringing in “other victims of illegal or unjust discrimination in their respective homelands”, while earlier reporting suggested the administration would prioritize bringing in Europeans although that was not included in the latest refugee plan.
