The World Health Organisation (WHO) says Africa is projected to be around six-million health workers short of what it needs by 2030, warning that training alone won’t close the gap without jobs, retention, and investment
To tackle the crisis, WHO Africa is hosting the 2nd Africa Health Workforce Investment Forum in Accra, Ghana this week under the theme “Plan. Train. Retain.”
The forum has brought together leaders together to align education with job creation, push for new healthcare roles, and mobilize funding to keep trained staff in Africa’s health systems.
