The Vice President of the World Bank, Dr Ndiame Diop, has met with Malawi’s President, Professor Peter Mutharika, to explore ways of strengthening the country’s economy.
The discussions, which took place in Lilongwe, focused on how Malawi can work with the World Bank to boost economic stability and support long-term development.
Officials said the talks highlighted key areas for cooperation, including agriculture, energy, and infrastructure, all seen as vital to driving growth and reducing poverty.
Diop reaffirmed the World Bank’s readiness to continue supporting Malawi’s economic reform efforts through targeted investments and technical assistance.
Mutharika, on his part, expressed appreciation for the Bank’s ongoing partnership and noted that such collaboration is essential to restoring confidence in the economy and improving livelihoods.
