A group of young South Africans (SA) are heading to Burkina Faso to participate in the African Diaspora Development Institute’s “Going Home” initiative, a pan-African gathering designed to strengthen connections between the continent and its diaspora.
The event brings together youth activists, entrepreneurs, and creatives from across Africa and abroad to exchange ideas on innovation, identity, and sustainable development.
Delegates will take part in a business summit, cultural discussions, and community outreach projects, including visits to hospitals and libraries.
Among the SA participants is influencer and youth activist Peter Kriel, who says the initiative provides a platform for young people to connect, collaborate, and contribute to Africa’s growth.
“This is about rediscovering who we are as Africans while building partnerships that can create real change,” Kriel said.
Organisers describe the “Going Home” initiative as part of a broader effort to unite African youth and the diaspora in advancing cultural pride, entrepreneurship, and inclusive development across the continent.
