As South Sudan prepares to mark 15 years of independence on July 9, young people are taking centre stage in a renewed call for peace.
A new youth-led campaign, launched under the United Nations (UN) global advocacy initiative “Hear Us, Act Now for a Peaceful World,” is amplifying the voices of young South Sudanese who are demanding an end to conflict and greater opportunities for their future.
The campaign has been launched in Wau, Aweil and Juba, bringing together government leaders, artists, civil society and communities.
As South Sudan approaches its 15th anniversary of independence, a new youth led peace campaign is giving young people a platform to speak out about the challenges they face and their hopes for a more peaceful future.
The campaign, launched under the UN, wide initiative “Hear Us, Act Now for a Peaceful World”, focuses on issues including conflict, displacement, education, economic opportunities and youth participation in leadership.
