Zambia head coach Moses Sichone will finally lead his team from the bench for the first time today when the Chipolopolo face Mali in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group A match in Casablanca.
The former Bundesliga defender was forced to delay his debut last month after suffering food poisoning, which left him hospitalised as Zambia played South Africa in a friendly. The team later travelled to Angola for another warm-up fixture while Sichone was still recovering.
Sichone was appointed in November to replace Avram Grant, who stepped down in late October following a disappointing run in World Cup qualifying, less than two months before the tournament in Morocco got underway.
Now back to full health, Sichone will be hoping to get his tenure off to a positive start as Zambia begin their AFCON campaign against a strong Malian side.
