Zambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation has urged its citizens residing in or visiting SA to exercise extreme caution

The Zambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation has urged its citizens residing in or visiting South Africa (SA) to exercise extreme caution and remain highly vigilant.

The warning follows a surge in anti-foreigner sentiment and planned nationwide demonstrations scheduled for June 30, driven by local movements demanding the expulsion of undocumented migrants.

In an official advisory, the Zambian government strongly encouraged nationals to carry valid identification documents, including passports and legal permits, at all times and to keep copies in secure locations.

SA authorities have deployed a massive, multi-agency security operation budget to maintain order during the upcoming protests, with the police service promising to act decisively against any form of lawlessness, violence, or intimidation.
