More than 2.3 million children in Zambia have returned to school
More than 2.3 million children in Zambia have returned to school following the government’s decision to introduce free education.
The policy was introduced after President Hakainde Hichilema came into office in 2021.
Education Minister Douglas Syakalima says the policy is rescuing children from the streets and helping shape a more disciplined and productive generation.
But while access has expanded dramatically, questions remain about quality, resources, and sustainability.
