Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF party has resolved to amend its constitution to align it with proposed changes to the country’s constitution.
This means the extension of Presidential and Parliamentary terms from five to seven years.
The party has also postponed its elective congress from 2027 to 2029, a year before President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s extended term is due to end in 2030.
The resolution was adopted at the party’s National People’s Conference in Chinhoyi, in Mashonaland West province.
However, the gathering has also revealed potential divisions within the party’s leadership.
