Zimbabwe secured an innings and 73-run victory over Afghanistan on the third day of the one-off Test in Harare

Zimbabwe secured an innings and 73-run victory over Afghanistan on the third day of the one-off Test in Harare, marking their first home Test win since 2013 and their biggest innings victory in the longest format.

Richard Ngarava was the standout performer, taking five wickets in Afghanistan’s second innings to dismantle their batting line-up and claim his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Afghanistan had resumed day three at 54-1 but collapsed under Ngarava’s precise bowling.

Zimbabwe had already set up the win by bowling Afghanistan out for just 127 in the first innings, with Brad Evans taking 5-22 in 9.2 overs.

Both teams will now turn their attention to the three-match T20I series, starting on October 29 at Harare Sports Club.
