Zimbabwe’s national women’s football team, the Mighty Warriors, have been knocked out of contention for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games after falling 7–0 to Malawi’s Scorchers at the National Sports Stadium.
The home defeat wraps up a tough 9–0 aggregate loss for the Zimbabweans, who had already dropped the first leg 2–0 in Lilongwe last Friday. Going into the match needing a quick turnaround to salvage the tie, Zimbabwe struggled to find their footing against a Malawian side that took charge of the game early on.
The loss puts an end to the Mighty Warriors’ qualifying journey for the 2028 Games, while Malawi move forward to the next round of the continental qualifiers.
