Zimbabwean constitutional law expert and leader of the opposition, the National Constitutional Assembly, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, was assaulted by unknown people at his offices in the capital, Harare.
Madhuku has openly opposed the recently gazetted Constitutional Amendment Number three, which seeks to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term of office and change the presidential term from five to seven years.
The attack is likely to trigger fears of a return to violence in Zimbabwe’s political sphere.
Also growing fear of intimidation of those opposed to the Constitutional Amendment.
