Billiat urges Scottland FC to show maturity in maiden CAF Champions League bid

Veteran Zimbabwean forward, Khama Billiat has called on his Scottland FC teammates to bring tactical discipline and maturity to their maiden Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League campaign this season.

The 35-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs star stands as the Zimbabwean champions’ most experienced campaigner in continental football. Having lifted the coveted trophy with Sundowns in 2016 and reached the final with Chiefs in 2021, Billiat warned his side against naivety when stepping onto Africa’s biggest club stage.

Addressing the squad ahead of their debut, Billiat pointed out that success at this level requires far more than physical effort.

“Play with a lot of maturity. It’s not just a game that you can just win on effort. It’s tactical,” Billiat advised. “It’s the games where you need to be in the right state of mind, understand the opponents, understand the game, understand the timing, and know when to play forward or keep the ball.”
