The death toll from the Lake Kariba ferry disaster in Zimbabwe has risen to 72 following the recovery of 22 more bodies.

Authorities say search and recovery operations will resume this morning as teams work to locate passengers who remain unaccounted for.

The exact number of people on board when the vessel capsized remains uncertain, though some estimates put the figure as high as 153 on a ferry with a maximum capacity of 90.
