South Africa’s (SA) Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has declared the city ready to host the upcoming G20 summit, which will take place this November, the first time the event is held on African soil.
The summit is expected to draw world leaders to the country at a time when Johannesburg has been grappling with infrastructure issues that have impacted service delivery. Despite these challenges, Morero expressed confidence in the city’s preparedness.
“We are confident. We have already hosted almost four meetings,” he said, citing previous successful gatherings of G20 foreign ministers, health ministers, finance ministers, and local government officials in venues across the city.
The G20 summit will mark a significant milestone for both Johannesburg and the continent as a whole.
