Watson emphasised that the event is not just about competition but also about introducing communities to the equine industry, developing young talent, and celebrating African sportsmanship.<\/p>\n<p>Polo enthusiasts will enjoy a unique sporting experience as teams of four compete across six \u201cchukkas\u201d, periods of play, on fields roughly the size of six rugby pitches. Players ride at speeds of up to 65 km\/h, using mallets to hit a small ball between goalposts. \u201cIt\u2019s elegance, speed, and agility all in one game,\u201d Watson said, describing the action as \u201chorse hockey\u201d in motion.<\/p>\n<p>The event also aims to foster continental unity and showcase African talent on the international stage. Watson shared that City Polo and its coaches, including former Springbok Craig, are developing future champions from communities across SA. \u201cOur next champions could be coming from Soshanguve or rural areas; we just need to expose them to the sport,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to thrilling polo matches, the Africa Cup will offer a family-friendly environment, combining sport with fashion, culture, and community engagement.
